The NDRRMC has ordered local officials to carry out forced evacuations in areas threatened by Super Typhoon Uwan.
NDRRMC Chair and Defense Secretary Gilberto Teodoro Jr. urged residents to comply, warning that refusal could endanger both lives and rescue personnel.
He emphasized that ignoring evacuation orders during forced evacuation may be considered disobedience to authority, which carries legal consequences.
As of 11 a.m. Sunday, more than 270,000 families, or over 916,000 individuals, have been preemptively evacuated across multiple regions.
The government projects that around 8.4 million people nationwide could be affected by the typhoon.
