Senators are set to hold a caucus today to discuss the disputed conviction threshold in Vice President Sara Duterte’s impeachment trial.
They will consider whether to decide the issue by vote or consensus before oral arguments by the prosecution and defense on Wednesday.
Retired Supreme Court justices have offered differing views on whether the two-thirds requirement should be based on all 24 senators or only those participating in the trial.
Sen. JV Ejercito said he may ask for more time to study the legal arguments before any vote.
The Senate is also expected to schedule the Office of the Vice President’s 2027 budget hearing later due to its impeachment court duties.
