The Department of Education (DepEd) is finalizing guidelines for suspending and resuming classes under Executive Order No. 130, which promotes data-based decisions.
Education Secretary Sonny Angara said the policy aims to protect students and school personnel while preventing unnecessary learning disruptions.
The guidelines will establish technical standards for class suspensions during disasters and environmental hazards.
Decisions will be based on scientific data from agencies such as PAGASA and PHIVOLCS.
Angara stressed that classes should resume as soon as conditions are safe to minimize learning loss.
