House lead prosecutor Rep. Gerville “Jinky Bitrics” Luistro urged senator-judges to base their verdict in Vice President Sara Duterte’s impeachment case on evidence and the law rather than her popularity in opinion polls.
She stressed that the Senate impeachment court has a constitutional duty that must remain separate from political considerations.
Luistro said senator-judges must carefully assess the admissibility and weight of the evidence presented.
She also maintained that public dissatisfaction with President Marcos and the country’s economic situation should not influence the proceedings.
Luistro emphasized that the House prosecution team is fulfilling its constitutional mandate and should not be identified with the administration.
