The Senate on Wednesday adopted a resolution urging the government to ensure adequate funding for relief, rehabilitation, reconstruction, and recovery efforts in Mindanao following the magnitude 7.8 earthquake on June 8.
Senate Resolution No. 447, filed by Sen. Joel Villanueva, calls for the immediate mobilization of government resources to help affected communities rebuild and restore livelihoods.
According to the Office of Civil Defense, the earthquake left at least 68 people dead, around 1,000 injured, and 30 others missing.
The measure was co-sponsored by several senators, who reaffirmed the Senate’s commitment to supporting both immediate disaster response and long-term recovery.
The chamber also adopted a separate resolution honoring frontliners who responded to the disaster and acted on several pending legislative measures during the special session.
