Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte received the Good Stories Award from the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) for the city’s environmental governance initiatives.
The award recognized Quezon City’s sustained efforts in waste management, conservation, and climate action, including its ban on single-use plastics and the Trash to Cashback Program.
The DENR said these initiatives have strengthened the city’s waste management system and promoted a circular economy.
Belmonte thanked the DENR for the recognition and reaffirmed the local government’s commitment to advancing climate action.
She said the award serves as motivation to continue implementing effective environmental programs.
