QC CHILDREN FOLD 2,000 PAPER CRANES FOR GLOBAL PEACE

Amid the ongoing Middle East war, children from the Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church in Quezon City are folding nearly 2,000 paper cranes as a symbol of prayer for global peace.

The children plan to meet Apostolic Nuncio Charles Brown to deliver their message and request that it be relayed to Pope Leo XIV, with hopes of a response within weeks.

In a letter addressed to the pope, they vowed to pray for all children affected by fear and violence around the world, while parish priest Fr. Robert Reyes said the initiative may also be expanded to include paper crane offerings during the May devotion to the Virgin Mary.

Reyes urged global leaders, including US President Donald Trump, to heed calls for peace, referencing the destructive power of modern weapons.

The initiative draws inspiration from the Japanese peace symbol Sadako Sasaki, who folded paper cranes after surviving the Hiroshima bombing.
