The Philippine National Police (PNP) will receive P800 million worth of body-worn cameras this month to enhance its operational response under the Unified 911 emergency system.
PNP Chief Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. said the equipment will support faster emergency response and improve police operations.
He also sent senior officers to London to inspect the status of about 17,000 body cameras procured from a manufacturer.
The Unified 911 system, launched in September 2025, serves as a nationwide emergency hotline aimed at providing immediate assistance, especially to those without other means of access.
Interior Secretary Jonvic Remulla urged the public to use the system responsibly and avoid prank calls that could delay urgent emergency responses.
