The Philippine Air Force (PAF) participated in mass casualty medical evacuation (MEDEVAC) drills during this year’s Balikatan exercises held from May 3 to 4 in Ilocos Norte. The simulation involved the 505th Search and Rescue Group and S-7 Aeromedical Team as part of efforts to enhance coordination between military and civilian responders. Around 17,000 personnel from multiple countries joined the broader Balikatan drills, highlighting strong international defense cooperation. A W-3A “Sokol” helicopter was used to transport a simulated casualty, demonstrating efficient aeromedical evacuation procedures. Officials said the exercise strengthens the PAF’s emergency response capabilities and improves preparedness for complex disaster and security scenarios.
