Malacañang praised the swift arrest of Russian-American vlogger Vitaly Zdorovetskiy, who was accused of harassing Filipinos in viral online videos.
Presidential Communications Undersecretary Claire Castro said President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.
immediately ordered authorities to act after being informed of the incident. Zdorovetskiy was apprehended through the joint efforts of the PNP, CIDG, and Bureau of Immigration, and is now detained at the BI facility in Bicutan while undergoing inquest proceedings.
The Palace said he is set to be deported and may be declared persona non grata, while his Filipino cameraman could also face charges.
Officials emphasized that while the Philippines welcomes tourists, foreign nationals must respect local laws, and those who engage in disruptive behavior will face consequences.
