The Bureau of Immigration has placed all personnel at international airports and seaports on high alert following the Sandiganbayan’s issuance of arrest warrants for former lawmaker Zaldy Co and 15 others on November 21.
All individuals named in the warrants have been added to the agency’s centralized derogatory database, allowing officers to flag and verify them if they attempt to enter or leave the Philippines.
Immigration Commissioner Joel Viado said intercepted individuals will be coordinated with the Philippine National Police for lawful execution of the warrants.
Four of the 16 warrant recipients, including Zaldy Co, are currently abroad, with departures recorded to Singapore, Qatar, Australia, and the UAE.
The warrants are related to an alleged anomalous flood control project in Oriental Mindoro, while two initially co-accused individuals were not issued warrants.
