Imee Marcos claimed that the alleged attempt to arrest Senator Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa is part of a broader political effort to control Senate leadership and push constitutional changes that could extend government terms.
In a TV interview, she said the supposed plan includes extending the terms of officials, including
the President, and potentially suspending national elections in favor of a constituent assembly.
Marcos also alleged that discussions included changes to eligibility rules for the presidency and efforts to halt ongoing investigations into flood control projects.
She said her information came from individuals who attended closed-door meetings, though she did not present concrete proof and admitted she was unsure if her sources would speak publicly.
Marcos warned against any move that could lead to political self-perpetuation and the suspension of elections.
