House Assistant Minority Leader Gabriela Party-list Rep. Sarah Elago, along with the Makabayan bloc, has filed House Resolution 762 to investigate alleged Philippine-based operations linked to the late convicted offender Jeffrey Epstein.
The probe aims to examine reports that local individuals and firms may have assisted Epstein with digital reputation management and online operations.
Elago emphasized that any involvement of Philippine-based entities in supporting an international sex offender warrants serious scrutiny, citing the country’s vulnerabilities to trafficking and online sexual exploitation.
The resolution also highlights concerns over regulatory gaps that could allow the Philippines to be used as a hub for transnational criminal activities.
Gabriela reiterated the need for a thorough investigation to strengthen laws and protect women and children from abuse, both online and offline.
