The Department of Justice (DOJ) announced it may seek a hold departure order against Cassandra Ong and pursue the arrest of former presidential spokesman Harry Roque through Interpol following their issuance of arrest warrants for human trafficking charges.
The Angeles City Regional Trial Court issued the warrants related to the Lucky South 99 Corp. raid, citing violations of the Expanded Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act of 2022.
DOJ spokesperson Mico Clavano clarified that Roque, who is currently abroad, is not being singled out and that Interpol is among the diplomatic channels available to ensure his accountability.
The case involves allegations that workers, including Chinese nationals, were forcibly held and made to work in illegal online scam operations.
Roque continues to deny the charges and plans to exhaust all legal remedies to prove his innocence.
