PHILIPPINE TRACKSTERS CAPTURE BRONZE IN ASIAN U23 CHAMPIONSHIPS

Team Philippines opened its campaign at the inaugural Asian U23 Athletics Championships in Ordos, China, with a bronze medal in the 4×400-meter mixed relay.

The quartet of Hussein Loraña, Jazzpeer Arcenal, Lea Ordinario, and national team debutant Naomi Johnson clocked a personal-best 3:25.28 to finish third behind India and host China.

Philippine Athletics, Inc. hailed the podium finish and expressed optimism as more Filipino athletes compete in their individual events.

Loraña will seek another medal in the men’s 800 meters, while Mariel Abuan, Arcenal, Johnson, Ordinario, Kharis Pantonia, and Edna Magtubo are also set to compete in various events.

The eight-member Philippine team is using the four-day tournament to gain experience and prepare for future international competitions.
