The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) is enhancing its 1326 hotline to better address cybercrime, scams, and misinformation.
The hotline will be integrated into the government’s eGov app and eReport platform, allowing reports via multiple channels to be centralized for faster processing and follow-up.
DICT aims to improve victim trust by providing clear updates on the progress of cases, from reporting to prosecution.
Additionally, the DICT is partnering with the Presidential Communications Office (PCO) to establish a system where the PCO leads fact-checking efforts while DICT handles cases flagged as fake news.
This collaboration seeks to create an oversight mechanism to ensure government accountability while empowering citizens to combat online fraud and disinformation.
