The Good Friday procession of the Jesus Nazareno image in Quiapo drew around 517,650 devotees. It lasted over 13 hours, starting at 11:33 p.m. on Maundy Thursday and ending at 12:51 p.m. on Good Friday.
This year’s turnout was slightly lower than last year’s estimated 532,000 participants, though the procession lasted longer.
The church reported 397 medical-related cases during the event.
Marshals, known as hijos del Nazareno, reminded devotees to maintain solemnity, discouraging clapping and shouting “viva!” during the procession.
The event commemorates the sacrifices and crucifixion of Jesus Christ and is observed differently from the annual January celebration.
