The Commission on Elections (Comelec) has deployed nearly 10,000 automated counting machines (ACMs) across the country in preparation for the May midterm elections.
As of Friday, 9,885 ACMs have been distributed to various regions, with notable deployments in Iligan City (2,744 machines), Kidapawan City (1,542 machines), Zamboanga City (2,372 machines), and Batanes (33 machines).
On Saturday, 1,852 ACMs were sent to Butuan City, and 670 went to Surigao City, while 673 machines were dispatched to General Santos City.
Comelec Chairman George Garcia confirmed that the ACMs were first deployed to more distant regions, with 2,300 machines set to be delivered to Davao City today.
In total, the Comelec leased 110,000 ACMs, with 94,000 to be used on election day and the remaining 16,000 as contingency machines.
