PAF RETIRES LAST SIX HUEY HELICOPTERS, WELCOMES BLACK HAWKS

The Philippine Air Force (PAF) has retired its last six UH-1H Huey helicopters after nearly 60 years of service in military operations, disaster response, and humanitarian missions.

The decommissioning ceremony was held on Nov. 5 at Brig. Gen. Benito N. Ebuen Air Base in Cebu, marking the end of the aircraft’s long history in the country.

PAF spokesman Col. Alvin Jay Capinguian said the helicopters will be placed in storage while the Air Force determines their future.

The newer S-70i Black Hawk helicopters have taken over the Hueys’ duties, offering greater carrying capacity and modern communication systems.

Capinguian clarified that the retirement was part of the military’s modernization program and was not directly linked to a fatal Super Huey crash in 2025.
