Ateneo de Manila University President Fr. Roberto Yap, SJ, apologized anew to the families of student-athletes Rene Baterbonia and Divine Adili during a Senate inquiry into the Dipaculao, Aurora tragedy.
He said the university continues to provide assistance and psychosocial support to the victims’ families and surviving student-athletes.
Yap also condemned the cyberbullying and online harassment targeting the survivors, saying it only worsens their grief.
He assured the Senate of Ateneo’s full cooperation with ongoing investigations while emphasizing the need to base decisions on verified facts.
The university also pledged to strengthen measures to protect the safety and well-being of its student-athletes.
