Filipino tennis star Alex Eala is shifting her focus to the clay season, starting with the Linz Open in Austria from April 6 to 12.
Eala recently bowed out in the Round of 16 at the Miami Open, losing 0-6, 2-6 to No. 14 Karolína Muchova, after a memorable WTA 1000 run last year as a qualifier-turned-seeded player.
She also reached the Round of 16 in her Indian Wells debut, falling to Czech player Linda Noskova, marking a strong early hardcourt season.
Despite the upcoming ranking drop from her career high of No. 29, Eala is expected to remain within the Top 50.
The 20-year-old expressed gratitude for her Miami campaign and excitement for the upcoming clay tournaments, calling Miami “still the best” and a special milestone in her career.
