ABS-CBN Corp. is set to retrench around 200 employees, or 7 percent of its workforce, following a review of its operations amid challenges facing the content industry.
The company said weaker advertising and consumer spending, along with high inflation, low economic growth, and the Middle East conflict, have affected its recovery efforts.
ABS-CBN said the workforce reduction is intended to maintain its financial position as it rebuilds its business as a global storytelling company.
The company did not disclose which positions or business units will be affected but said it will manage the retrenchment with consideration for employees and their families.
ABS-CBN said it remains focused on expanding its content business across digital platforms, film, music, and events in the Philippines and abroad.
