Doctor-vlogger Willie Ong has officially withdrawn from the 2025 senatorial race to focus on his cancer treatment.
Ong, who revealed in September that he is battling sarcoma cancer, expressed his gratitude to his supporters and emphasized that he would continue advocating for the poor, albeit in a private capacity.
The Commission on Elections confirmed that while Ong’s withdrawal statement is yet to be officially filed, his name will remain on the ballot, with any votes for him being considered stray.
Health reform advocate Dr. Tony Leachon supported Ong’s decision, encouraging him to prioritize his health and family.
Meanwhile, other political developments include criticism of President Marcos’ remarks on former President Duterte’s administration and tensions between key political figures.
