Valenzuela City Mayor Wes Gatchalian said PLDT and Converge have provided refunds to thousands of subscribers affected by prolonged internet service interruptions in the city.
Converge issued a total of PHP1.67 million in rebates to 3,600 affected accounts, while PLDT provided PHP314,671.48 in rebates, with part of the amount still being processed.
The mayor earlier met with representatives of PLDT, Converge, and Globe to raise complaints about service disruptions and delays in restoring affected connections.
Gatchalian said the outages, which were linked to continuous heavy rainfall, disrupted households and businesses, with some residents reporting nearly a month without reliable internet service.
The city government said discussions with Globe are ongoing as it continues to push internet providers to address complaints and provide appropriate assistance to affected consumers.
