The United States government has pledged PHP13.8 million in humanitarian aid to support the Philippines’ disaster response following severe flooding caused by recent storms.
The aid will be delivered through the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) to assist relief and recovery efforts in Luzon.
US Ambassador MaryKay Carlson expressed concern for those affected and confirmed close coordination between the US Embassy, the Philippine government, and the WFP to ensure aid reaches vulnerable communities.
The funding, provided by the US Department of State’s Bureau of Population, Refugees, and Migration, will help transport food to flood-hit areas, including Metro Manila, Northern and Central Luzon, and Calabarzon.
Meanwhile, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council reported 25 deaths and over 3.8 million people affected by the storms and monsoon rains.
