The cyberlibel complaint filed by former Senator Antonio Trillanes IV against former presidential spokesperson Harry Roque has been dismissed by a Quezon City prosecutor due to insufficient evidence.
The complaint, which was filed last year, accused Roque and others of cyberlibel over claims made in videos posted on social media in 2024, alleging that Trillanes gave away the Scarborough Shoal to China in 2012.
Department of Justice spokesperson Mico Clavano confirmed the dismissal but noted that Trillanes could still file a motion for reconsideration.
Trillanes expressed his intent to challenge the dismissal, stating that Roque should not celebrate yet.
Roque, currently in the Netherlands seeking political asylum, responded to the claims by pointing out that the Philippines did not lose territory during President Duterte’s administration.
