House Speaker Faustino “Bojie” Dy III on Wednesday urged the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) to expedite the disbursement of government funds to ensure the timely implementation of programs.
Speaking before the House adjourned for its summer break, Dy warned that delays in the release of funds render budgets meaningless and harm citizens waiting for assistance.
His remarks appeared to address criticisms from the National Unity Party (NUP), whose leaders have complained about reduced allocations and uncompleted projects in their districts.
Dy emphasized that Congress has fulfilled its role by passing laws and allocating funds, but effective service requires swift action from implementing agencies.
He called for better coordination across government, urging the DBM to act not as critics but as partners in delivering public services.
