HOUSE-APPROVED BILL SEEKS BETTER DIGITAL LEARNING RESOURCES

The House of Representatives approved on third reading a bill that would provide students in public and private higher education institutions free access to digital textbooks, academic resources and high-speed campus Wi-Fi.

House Speaker Faustino “Bojie” Dy III said the measure would help students who struggle to afford books, internet access, transportation and food.

House Bill No. 9532 would establish a National Academic Content Repository under the Commission on Higher Education, offering digital textbooks, research papers, lecture videos and other educational materials.

The bill also prioritizes rural and underserved campuses and supports the creation of Filipino academic content.

Dy said expanding digital access would help reduce educational gaps and prepare young Filipinos for a technology-driven future.
