The Senate minority bloc succeeded in striking out a video from Sen. Imee Marcos’ privilege speech that alleged members were involved in a Charter change campaign, which senators described as false, misleading, and a “propaganda tool.”
The motion, initially pushed by Sen. Juan Miguel Zubiri, was supported by most minority senators and later withdrawn after Marcos agreed to remove the video from the record.
Lawmakers, including Sens. Vicente Sotto III, Sherwin Gatchalian, Panfilo Lacson, and Francis Pangilinan, strongly denied any involvement in Cha-cha discussions, calling the allegations disinformation that damaged the Senate’s credibility.
The debate also highlighted growing tensions within the chamber, with senators urging unity and respect amid political infighting and leadership realignment efforts.
The Senate minority bloc, or “Solid Block 11,” said it will continue efforts to restore public trust while engaging in discussions on possible leadership changes in the upper chamber.
