Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto urged the University of the Philippines College of Law Class of 2026 to uphold integrity in public service by sharing the 10 principles he follows to avoid being “eaten by the system.”
Speaking as the graduates’ guest of honor, Sotto emphasized choosing conscience over power, staying accountable, and resisting unethical practices despite persistent corruption.
He admitted that pushing for reforms in government can be frustrating but said the graduates gave him renewed hope for the country’s future.
Sotto also warned aspiring lawyers that they may face pressure to engage in bribery, fraud, and other unethical acts, stressing the importance of standing by their values.
He concluded by encouraging the new graduates to become leaders who will uphold truth, fairness, and the rule of law.
