The Sandiganbayan has dismissed another civil case against the Marcos family due to the failure of the Presidential Commission on Good Government (PCGG) to prosecute the case for nearly 40 years.
In its 12-page ruling, the court highlighted the PCGG’s unreasonable delay in pursuing the claim for damages and attorney’s fees in Civil Case 0032.
The court stressed that the case had been unresolved for so long that continuing it was no longer justifiable.
This case was part of a larger wealth forfeiture effort against the Marcoses, filed in 1987, which sought to recover billions allegedly amassed illegally during martial law.
The case specifically targeted luxury vehicles acquired by a Marcos associate, Fernando Timbol, using his connection to the Marcos family.
