The Quezon City government has stepped up flood preparedness ahead of the rainy season, with officials inspecting Matalahib Creek on March 18.
Mayor Joy Belmonte led the inspection alongside Vince Dizon and Mahar Lagmay to review plans for vulnerable areas.
Proposed measures include mobile water pumps, opening flood control barriers, and other engineering strategies assessed through simulations by the UP Resilience Institute.
The efforts are part of the city’s Drainage Masterplan, which features detention basins to manage excess rainwater and reduce flood risks.
Mayor Belmonte assured residents of close coordination with national agencies and experts to address persistent flooding concerns.
