The Philippine National Police (PNP) is urging parents to immediately call 911 or seek police assistance if they notice unusual behavioral changes in their children, saying early reporting may help prevent minors from being influenced or recruited by extremist groups online.
PNP Chief Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. emphasized the need for parents to monitor their children’s online activities and protect them from exposure to violent or harmful content.
The appeal follows concerns raised over possible links between online extremist groups and minors involved in a recent gun attack, which authorities are now investigating.
The PNP said it is coordinating with foreign counterparts and other agencies as part of efforts to combat online radicalization and child exploitation.
Officials also reiterated support for programs aimed at protecting and guiding youth, including counseling and intervention services.
