President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. announced that the Philippines will open new embassies in Astana and Accra this year, along with a new Consulate General in Miami to strengthen diplomatic ties and improve services for overseas Filipinos.
He said the new missions will support economic cooperation, cultural exchanges, and political relations while reinforcing the country’s commitment to regional cooperation through Association of Southeast Asian Nations and multilateral diplomacy.
The President also highlighted the importance of maritime cooperation, energy security, and food resilience following the recent ASEAN Summit and reaffirmed the Philippines’ support for a rules-based international order.
Meanwhile, the Philippine Consulate General in Seattle officially opened, with Henry Bensurto Jr. leading the mission to serve Filipinos across five northwestern US states.
During the diplomatic reception, Charles Brown also expressed condolences to victims of the recent Mindanao earthquake and praised the Philippines’ commitment to diplomacy and peaceful dispute resolution.
