The Philippine flag was raised over the Philippine Rise on the eighth anniversary of its renaming, symbolizing the country’s firm assertion of sovereignty over the resource-rich undersea plateau.
The Armed Forces, led by the Northern Luzon Command (NOLCOM), held commemorative and maritime activities, including the send-off of BRP Emilio Jacinto from La Union for a symbolic mission to the area.
NOLCOM chief Lt. Gen. Fernyl Buca emphasized the flag’s presence as a strong declaration of the nation’s maritime rights and identity.
The event was attended by military leaders and civilian maritime stakeholders, highlighting a whole-of-nation approach to defending the eastern frontier.
Buca urged troops to uphold patriotism and responsibility, as the Armed Forces committed to continuing patrols and operations to protect national interests in the Philippine Rise.
