The Philippines is exploring the possibility of importing liquefied natural gas (LNG) from Alaska as part of efforts to develop its energy sector.
The Alaska LNG project, backed by the Trump administration, is designed to process and transport up to 20 million tons of LNG annually, primarily for the Asian market.
Philippine Ambassador to the US, Jose Manuel Romualdez, confirmed that President Marcos hopes to discuss the opportunity with President Trump in a meeting later this year.
Romualdez emphasized that sourcing LNG from Alaska could provide a stable and competitively priced supply for the Philippines.
The potential collaboration follows a recent meeting between Philippine officials and Alaska Governor Mike Dunleavy, highlighting growing interest in the project from Pacific Rim nations.
