PASIG COURT ISSUES SUSPENSION OF P85 METRO WAGE INCREASE

A Pasig court has suspended the implementation of the P85 daily wage hike in Metro Manila through a status quo ante order, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) confirmed.

The order keeps wages at their previous levels while the legal challenge is pending.

The petition questioning the wage increase was filed by Readycon Trading and Construction Corp. and R-11 Builders Inc.

Instead of issuing a 72-hour temporary restraining order, the court directed that the status quo be maintained until the case is assigned to a court for hearing.

Employers had earlier warned that the wage hike, which took effect on July 25, could lead to job losses.
