TEODORO PUSHES AUDIT OF BCDA’S HANDLING OF AFP MODERNIZATION FUND

Defense Secretary Gilbert Teodoro Jr. is calling for an audit of the Bases Conversion and Development Authority’s (BCDA) revenues from former military bases, saying only P45 billion has been remitted over the past 26 years.

He said the agency’s net revenues should have gone to the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Modernization Trust Fund, as required by law.

Teodoro warned he would pursue legal action if the requested accounting is not provided.

The BCDA is also facing scrutiny over the proposed Pax Silica AI hub in New Clark City.

While supporting the project’s potential economic benefits, Teodoro stressed the need to protect critical technologies because of its proximity to AFP operating bases.
