PALACE PUSHES EXPEDITED PROCESSING OF MAIFIP CLAIMS

Malacañang has ordered the Department of Health (DOH) to coordinate with regional directors and hospitals to ensure the prompt processing of legitimate claims under the Medical Assistance to Indigent and Financially Incapacitated Patients (MAIFIP) program.

Executive Secretary Ralph Recto said faster processing will help hospitals maintain operations and ensure continued care for low-income and vulnerable patients.

MAIFIP funds cover essential medical expenses such as hospitalization, medicines, emergency treatment, and professional fees.

The Department of Budget and Management recently released P27.4 billion to the DOH for the program under this year’s national budget.

Of the allocation, P19.145 billion will go to health development centers, while funds will also be provided to DOH hospitals in Metro Manila and major public medical centers nationwide.
