Speaker Faustino Dy III announced that the House of Representatives will shoulder the medical expenses of all individuals injured in the recent magnitude 7.8 earthquake in Mindanao. At the same time, lawmakers allocated over P9.2 million in aid for affected communities.
Senate leaders also provided financial assistance, relief goods, and donated their salaries to support recovery efforts.
Meanwhile, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council reported that the death toll has risen to 47, with 688 injured and 31 people still missing.
More than 75,000 families have been affected, while over 16,000 individuals remain in evacuation centers across Southern Mindanao.
Government agencies continue relief, rescue, and rehabilitation operations, with key roads reopened to speed up the delivery of aid.
