The government’s unified 911 system received 494,338 calls in its first year, with nearly half or 45.16% classified as prank calls.
Only 26.74% were legitimate emergencies, including medical and fire-related incidents.
The PNP recorded 86,614 calls and responded within five minutes to 96.38% of them.
Public order disturbances, traffic incidents and other law enforcement concerns made up most of the police-related calls.
The 911 system now operates through nine command centers nationwide to provide faster emergency assistance.
