The Office of the Ombudsman filed 36 criminal counts against six former DPWH Region 12 officials and seven private individuals over an alleged P491-million right-of-way scam in General Santos City.
The charges include malversation through falsification of public documents and graft involving payments for 18 land parcels affected by the Digos-Makar National Road project.
Investigators said the accused allegedly submitted fake documents to obtain government compensation.
The scheme reportedly used outdated property valuations to inflate right-of-way claims, resulting in over P491.9 million in payments.
The Ombudsman also dismissed former DPWH Region 12 legal officer Ansare Mariga Busran from government service.
