Nestlé Philippines is strengthening its shift toward lower-emission operations by integrating biomass energy into its manufacturing processes as part of its net-zero commitment.
The company said its local operations are already powered entirely by renewable electricity from hydroelectric and geothermal sources across its facilities nationwide.
Nestlé Philippines Chairman and CEO Mauricio Alarcon said the firm is now focusing on reducing emissions from energy-intensive production, including the use of a new biomass facility for milk spray-drying.
The biomass plant in Cabuyao, Laguna, uses agricultural waste as fuel, helping cut greenhouse gas emissions while supporting local farming communities.
Nestlé said the initiative is part of its broader sustainability strategy, which also includes circular packaging, waste reduction, and responsible sourcing, and is aligned with its goal of achieving net-zero emissions by 2050.
