San Lazaro Hospital continues to record high leptospirosis admissions, with 10 to 15 patients arriving daily, many already in severe condition.
The Department of Health has recorded 6,253 cases nationwide and warned that infections could rise following recent flooding.
Doctors said symptoms may appear within three days to two weeks after exposure to floodwater.
The public is advised to avoid floodwater, practice proper hygiene and seek medical attention if symptoms develop.
Health officials also warned against taking doxycycline without a doctor’s prescription.
