The San Juan City Local School Board has approved funding to purchase walk-through and handheld metal detectors for public schools.
Mayor Francis Zamora said the equipment will strengthen security and improve screening at school entrances.
The devices will support security personnel in monitoring people entering school premises.
The procurement process will now proceed under government rules.
The initiative aims to provide students, teachers and school staff with a safer learning environment.
