The Department of Health (DOH) said 48 beds have been allocated for leptospirosis patients in private hospitals across Metro Manila, including 11 additional surge beds.
Only two patients are currently admitted, leaving 46 beds available for those who may need hospitalization.
The Medical Center of Muntinlupa has the most vacant beds with 10, followed by Olivarez General Hospital with eight and F.Y. Manalo Medical Foundation Inc. with seven.
Nationwide, the DOH has recorded 8,317 leptospirosis cases, a 14-percent increase from the 7,280 cases reported last year.
The agency urged people experiencing symptoms such as fever, vomiting, nausea, muscle pain, headache and reddish eyes to seek proper diagnosis and treatment at the nearest health center.
