The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) plans to strengthen its Parenting Effectiveness Service (PES) to promote active parental involvement and home-based support for children.
The agency said stronger family relationships could help prevent young people from relying solely on online networks for emotional support and guidance.
The DSWD, together with local government units, the Department of Education and the Philippine National Police, will provide trauma-informed care and psychological first aid to students, families and school personnel affected by the recent school shooting in South Cotabato.
Medical, burial and livelihood assistance will also be extended to affected families as part of their recovery.
Mental health officials emphasized that student safety includes emotional well-being, with children exposed to traumatic events needing timely, compassionate and accessible psychological support.
