Kai Sotto says he is on track in his recovery from a torn ACL and is targeting a return to basketball by January, a year after his injury.
The 7-foot-3 Gilas Pilipinas big man has started shooting during team training, but will not play in the FIBA World Cup Asian Qualifiers first window next week.
Despite not participating in full practices, Sotto will join the team in Guam and continue to follow a personalized rehab and weight-training program.
Head coach Tim Cone highlighted that Sotto’s presence in training helps the team, as he observes, participates in limited drills, and studies game videos.
Sotto admitted that watching practices makes him eager to return, motivating him to focus on recovery and contribute fully when he is ready.
