JV EJERCITO BACKS REMOVAL OF NON-COMPLIANT DPWH PROJECTS

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) and Sen. Joseph Victor “JV” Ejercito agreed to remove infrastructure projects with incomplete documentary requirements from the proposed 2027 national budget.

The agreement followed Ejercito’s meeting with newly appointed DPWH Secretary Giovanni Lopez and former secretary Vince Dizon on concerns over the P7.2-trillion spending plan.

Ejercito gave the DPWH until Nov. 3 to submit the required documents and justifications for 6,271 projects newly added to the House-approved budget.

Projects that fail to meet the requirements will be excluded before the budget reaches plenary deliberations.

Ejercito also pushed for institutionalizing stricter project evaluation through his proposed Masterplan for Infrastructure and National Development Act.
