A Social Weather Stations (SWS) survey found that more Filipino households own motorcycles and bicycles than four-wheeled vehicles.
The June 20 to 29 survey showed that 46 percent of households own at least one motorcycle, 23 percent have bicycles, and only five percent own cars or other four-wheeled vehicles.
Bicycle ownership increased from 16 percent in March, representing an estimated 6.5 million households.
Around 5.3 million households use bicycles for recreation, while 4.9 million use them for daily activities such as commuting and running errands.
Among cycling households, 35 percent cited health benefits as their main reason for biking, while 32 percent use bicycles for transportation or livelihood.
